Belleville residents come together to support Muslim community

BELLEVILLE – Local residents took part in a peace vigil at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Wednesday to honour the lives lost in the Christchurch terrorist attack in New Zealand and to show support for local Muslims.

The evening event was organized by Holy Trinity and the Interfaith Quinte Group of the United Nations Association in Canada Quinte Branch. It was hosted by Rev. Robert Weisner of Holy Trinity, along with guest speakers such as Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk and Mike Callaghan, the city’s deputy police chief.
